Suggestions for expansion
[edit]This could be a decent article but it needs expansion in the following areas.
- History:
- When did this first start? It goes back before the 1980s. I'm guessing it was pretty much as soon as TV cameras became portable enough to do this sort of thing. Can we identify a first person or TV show to do it?
- What were the issues that led to regulation and what were the regulations? How have different countries handled it?
- What is the state of doorstepping now? Are these notable practitioners who do it on the internet?
- Global perspective: This is not a specifically British thing. Can we find some international examples?
- Does it have a different name in other places? Wiktionary suggests "ambush journalism", although that can be studio based so maybe it is not quite the same thing. We already have a little bit of coverage of that at Journalism genres#Ambush journalism. Should that be merged here, or this there?
- Are there any other particularly notable practitioners or incidents?
