Undav has no ties to Turkiye or Turkish national team

Deniz Undav has no connection to Türkiye or the Turkish national football team. He does not identify as Turkish and has never been called up to represent Türkiye at any level. His eligibility to play for Türkiye is doubtful, as he does not hold dual citizenship. Therefore, any claim regarding his eligibility, as well as the user’s decision to reinstate such claims on Wikipedia, lacks foundation and appears to reflect self-promotional efforts by Undav’s representatives. Similarly, where his family was born a generation ago is not relevant. He may be important to him personally but not to the Wiki audience.

Per MOS:CONTEXTBIO "Ethnicity, religion, or sexuality should generally not be in the lead unless relevant to the subject's notability. Similarly, neither previous nationalities nor the country of birth should be mentioned in the opening paragraph unless relevant to the subject's notability" How other Wikipedia does are not relevant here as they have their own Manuel of style. A similar case is Mesut Özil wich is Turkish but we don't add it as it has no relevance.Shadow4dark (talk) 06:57, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

Alleged section blanking

@Shadow4dark: I'm confused about your reasons for this edit. I don't have strong opinions about the edit itself, but the reason you gave was "Unexplained blanking". You then posted a warning on new user TasawwufEditor's Talk page accusing them of "content removal". I don't see in the edit where the blanking or removal takes place. The edit introduces a new paragraph with a citation. "Content removal" seems like a better description of what you did than what they did. They deleted his Yazidis background in personal life and replaced with Turkish. However, they have Yazidis-Kurdish background per sources. Shadow4dark (talk) 20:21, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Adding pronunciation

I propose adding pronunciations in German and his native language Kurdish. Similar to other footballers with dual identities, this will be useful for journalists reporting on the player.

Description of suggested change: Undav's income of 600 Dirhams as a semi-professional footballer at age 17 is in agreement with the citation. However, the currency appears odd given he worked in Germany and has no affiliation with Morocco to the best of my knowledge. I suggest currency conversion to EUR (approx. 55 EUR) and writing 600 Dirhams in parenthesis to align with the reference.

 Not done: As the source specifically gives the amount in dirhams, as Dh600, and any currency conversion would need to be based on what the euro-dirham exchange rate was back in 2014, not what it is today. Day Creature (talk) 20:09, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply! The original amount would remain in my suggested edit. The historic exchange rate can be used, with an "approximately" for EUR and rounding to the last decimal unequal to zero. Spelling of father's home town

I suggest spelling this city using either the English or German alphabets. As it's written, in Turkish, this not interpretable to a reader in English, especially including the Dotless i which is not a standard character in English text.
