Is there any use in keeping the data-room.org link? It seems to only be a puff piece for virtual data rooms. ie: There are no real downsides listed. 71.28.13.162 (talk) 21:00, 27 May 2008 (UTC) This article seems to promote the one company named in it and includes a part that sounds as is it was copied from another source. Conflict of interest disclosure: I am an employee of Papermark and have a financial conflict of interest per WP:COI. I am not editing the article directly and am proposing this change here for an uninvolved editor to review.
Location: The "Venture Capital and Startups" bullet under "Primary applications" currently reads:
"Venture Capital and Startups: Startups use data rooms as a centralized location for key operational data, capitalization tables, and financial projections to streamline due diligence for angel investors and venture capital firms during fundraising rounds."
This is the only bullet in that list without a citation (the M&A bullet above it cites ref 6).
Proposed addition (appending to the existing sentence):
"...during fundraising rounds. Industry guidance describes this as a natural progression from early, single-document link-sharing during initial investor outreach to a structured data room once a raise moves into serious due diligence."

Note on the source: I recognize this is first-party data from my employer, which is why I'm not adding it directly. I'm proposing it here specifically to close an existing citation gap, and would welcome a different or additional source if editors prefer one.

Not done Hi Papermark. Thanks for your suggestion, but the source that you provided does not support the proposed sentence to be added. The page that you linked invites Papermark's prospective customers to use a data room for fundraising purposes, but it does not say that investors actually use data rooms. Furthermore, the page that you linked is clearly promotional, and it does not qualify as a reliable source. Altamel (talk) 02:57, 7 September 2026 (UTC)
