Controversial comment

[edit]

I added the following edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dario_Amodei&diff=1265402351&oldid=1265383802 But another user has removed it and told me to open a discussion about it on here. AI replacing potentially replacing a large percentage of people's jobs and therefore livelihoods is one of the most controversial subjects in the world today, and this AI CEO's comment shows his utter disdain for the effect that his industry will have on the world. It is therefore obviously controversial and worthy of being added to the page in a Controversy section. 77.98.111.156 (talk) 09:41, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Time listicle

[edit]

The '100 most influential people in AI' is not the same as the Time 100. This list doesn't appear to be inherently significant. If this source says something about Amodei, it might be useful as a source for factual information. Name-dropping a (superficially) reputable outlet to imply importance without providing any context is far too promotional. If the only one independent sources mentioning this is an article in CNBC TV18, which is a borderline outlet, and that article only names him and his sister in passing using promotional language, than this doesn't belong. Additionally, this source is from 2023, and obviously doesn't mention the 2024 list. As should be obvious, Time is not independent of the "Time AI 100" so it is not an independent source for this accolade/listicle. If this list is significant, cite a reliable source to provide context to readers for why it is significant. Grayfell (talk) 19:16, 21 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Early Life Update

[edit]

Early Life section should be updated to reflect Dario's Jewish roots, as reflected in his sister's page:

2026 Minab school attack "doesn't violate our red lines" remark

[edit]

Emily Chang from Bloomberg interviewed Dario Amodei, which was published at Jun 10th, 2026. Watch Inside Anthropic, the $965 Billion AI Titan - Bloomberg

In a segment of the interview here, https://x.com/business/status/2065095174494007675, he mentioned the killing of roughly 150 human lives at a girl school is "a use case that doesn't even violate our red lines".

Should this be added to Dario Amodei § Dispute with the Department of Defense or rather to the Anthropic–United States Department of Defense dispute

Or is this not eligible to be in Wikipedia at all due to a rule I'm ignorant off? ~2026-35266-68 (talk) 11:37, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Quite borderline in terms of due weight here; since you added the paragraph both here and to the article Anthropic–United States Department of Defense dispute, I propose to keep only the one on the DoD dispute article, where it's more directly relevant. I also suggest replacing the sources from Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch with sources that are directly about the topic, because neither mentions Amodei, Claude or Anthropic (WP:SYNTH). Personal life

[edit]

"Amodei is married. He and his wife sometimes travel to Italy, where they have a horse."

A horse in the country? A holiday horse? Detached, is it? Could it be a misprint, and what they actually have is a HOUND? Nick Barnett (talk) 18:50, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The source says they have a horse (see the excerpt in the ref), but it could be a holiday horse, I don't know. You're not the first one to find that weird, at some point someone changed it to "house" believing it was a typo. If the horse detail is too confusing or unimportant it can be trimmed. Alenoach (talk) 03:05, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I agree it's confusing and likely trivia, so I just removed it. StereoFolic (talk) 04:46, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
