comment on location of headquarters

There is confusion in this article as to whether the company is headquartered in Dallas or Detroit.

The confusion is in some part a result of Comerica Incorporated, a bank holding company that is not itself a bank, moving its headquarters to Texas where its largest and most profitable state chartered bank was located. That didn't change the legal address of the bank holding corporation which remained where it was chartered. The location of the banks it holds, all branded as "Comerica Bank" was also unchanged. The legal address of the state chartered banks in TX, FL, etc. each remained in the state where it is chartered and was not movable. Neither were the two national (federal charter) banks, one is chartered in Michigan and the other in Delaware. All of this became moot 2/1/26 when Comerica Incorporated ceased to exist. Simultaneously the legal name of each of the banks was changed to a name beginning "Fifth Third". After 2/1/26 the name "Comerica Bank" wasn't the beginning of the name of any bank, it was only a servicemark (trademark) of 5th 3rd. The plan delivered to the FDIC, OCC, and state regulators anticipated completing brand identification changes before 9/1/26 and ceasing the use of the name "Comerica". Why has your history of what is today Comerica Bank abruptly stopped immediately after it was reported that Direct Express business carried out for the U.S. Treasury Dept. was discovered in mid-2023 to be taking place in Pakistan, through a subcontractor. This is, apparently, a very serious breach of trust and security in the eyes of the Treasury Dept., and thus the U.S. Federal Government as a whole. There isn't a lot to talk about. The U.S. Treasury contract explicitly requires that all services associated with the Direct Express prepaid card program must be performed within the United States or its territories. In May 2023, it was discovered that a vendor for Comerica Bank — which managed the U.S. Treasury's Direct Express prepaid card program — was handling sensitive fraud disputes and cardholder data through an overseas office in Lahore, Pakistan. Internal documents revealed that the personal data of veterans, Social Security recipients, and disability beneficiaries was being shared with offshore employees in Pakistan. Comerica acknowledged this was a "serious contract violation". Following this discovery and other operational challenges, the Treasury Department transitioned the role of Direct Express financial agent to the Bank of New York (now BNY Mellon). There wasn't any evidence of any large data breach, and there have been so many large data breaches in recent years that it would be difficult to use indirect evidence to show conclusively that this incident was also one, even though it seems reasonably likely that it was.
