Operation Cumulus
[edit]No mention of Operation Cumulus of 1952 on the article. I think that's something that might be worth talking about as it was hidden by the UK government for years until a pilot spoke out and the papers were released.
Is cloud seeding effective?
[edit]The effectiveness section really makes it seem like this doesn't work (it's a list of studies saying cloud seeding does not work) but the article makes it seem like it does; it is not written like an article about a pseudoscientific/unsupported practice. Are there missing studies that support the practice? Kavigupta (talk) 05:01, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- I noticed the same thing. The article needs a lot of work when it comes to neutrality. Words like "serendipitous" are loaded. ~2026-39007-15 (talk) 19:55, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
table salt
[edit]Table salt is mostly sodium chloride and sodium is harmful to soil. Dumping large amounts of it on land over time might lead to excessive salinization. This is a serious agricultural issue. If, as the article suggests, table salt is being strongly considered (or already used), there needs to be sound replicated research that shows that soil damage will not be significant. ~2026-39007-15 (talk) 19:58, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
Is there enough in the History section?
[edit]There should be a lot more about the programs of other countries in the History section. For instance, the Chinese attemps to control the weather and African cloudseeding projects as well. The Middle East should also be talked about in this section, most notably the disasterous 2024 Dubai flood. For most other Wikipedia articles, the "history" section of any topic would be the longest section, especially a topic that is more than 100 years old. Although cloud seeding is only 80 years old, I think it still aplies to this topic, considering its contrevesial (please check my spelling) status. More info about project Skywater should be included, and there should also be sections of rainmaking practices before cloudseeding Source.
The information should be presented in an unbiased manner; I've noticed this article doesn't mention the arguments of the groups opposing this practice. ~2026-50338-16 (talk) 05:28, 18 September 2026 (UTC)
More citations
[edit]There is a "This article needs more citations. (October 2024)" warning at the top.
Seems like there are plenty of reliable secondary source primary topic citations here:
I may take a look at adding some from that search.
Please feel free to add links to articles here inline as replies to this Talk page topic and we can collaborate on finding citations / adding citations incrementally, asynchronously. Thanks! Tantek (talk) 20:59, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
