The "Canadian Party of Quebec" is a mystery

[edit]

Before the Parti Québécois was formed in 1968, there was a Sovereignty Association Movement to rally followers and lay down policy. I would expect the same process to apply to the creation of other parties like the new "Canadian Party of Quebec" launched in 2022. But, I can't find any indication anywhere online of any prior movement, any rallies, any large group, any caucus, any laying down of policy, or any election of leaders. All I can find is the CaPQ registered by Elections Quebec. Where is the history and background of this new political party? It seems to have sprung fully formed from the forehead of Zeus.

The CaPQ is a party without a history; without any grassroots demand for its establishment.

Who were its initial organizers, how many members did it have; when, where and how did the party recruit its members; who were the leadership who were voted for, and when were they voted for; who were the contenders for the leadership, when did the party hold a founding convention; when and with whom did the party establish its principles and its party constitution?

What is the name of the movement by which the party was originated?

Or was the party formed on the say-so of the two founding “co-leaders” and perhaps a handful of their friends? 2605:8D80:6400:BD42:654E:74B6:77E1:546C (talk) 02:27, 24 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
