Marcus Ericsson afilliation

Would it be proper if I were to add the recently announced affiliation of Marcus Ericsson to the Cadillac F1 project? I am afraid that this inclusion may be improper due to my lack of experience in Wikipedia's intricacies. Igotnousername (talk) 13:01, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

I see a lot of tabloid coverage on this, but no reliable sources. It needs confirmation and, even then, is the signing of a simulator driver worth mentioning in the team's history? MB2437 16:58, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

GM involvement

A lot of these links go to articles that don't actually confirm GM participation in the team other than the use of the name and a POTENTIAL future commitment to an engine program. There are a lot of talks about "discussions" with GM. But most things this page attributes to GM are actually actions taken by TWG Cadillac Formula One which, at the moment, has no ownership stake from GM. I'm not entirely sure how to clean this up, because a lot to the sources quoted make the same substitution. wsommerv (talk) 11:55, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

I'm inclined to disagree. I would probably agree with the tenor of your comment, in that if f I recall correctly, Andretti's initial plan was to do their own team with GM as a title sponsor (sort of like Sauber and Alfa Romeo), and TWG (which was a silent partner until Andretti burned his bridges with Formula One leadership) was on board with this idea. But the main reason for F1 standing its ground (besides holding out for a bigger expansion fee) was to force GM to actually participate. And now that GM is participating, it is not clear whether the terms of the deal on the chassis side were also renegotiated to give GM more of a say, etc. All of this (except the F1 standing its ground part) is me reading between the lines, and that would be original research (WP:OR), so I don't think we can include it. It is worth noting that Cadillac is a GM Brand, just as Renault owns Alpine. To my knowledge, the team is directly owned by GM/Cadillac, and it is not a situation like Aston Martin in Formula One. I have not seen a source that says otherwise, with many sources insinuating (under my interpretation) that GM is the owner. GM will also provide badged engines to Cadillac from 2029 (? I believe it's 2029, unsure if they've pushed it back, but regardless of when it's still confirmed to be happening). I would support rewriting the article's lead, specifically the first sentence, to place less emphasis on GM. I don't see any other "bad" uses of GM in the article, but if I missed something please let me know. GalacticVelocity08 (talk) 20:26, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

Title

I feel like we should rename the title to "Cadillac Formula 1 Team", as that is the name listed in the 2026 FIA Formula One Championship article and feels a bit smoother. Any thoughts? ~2025-38174-90 (talk) 02:36, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Afraid not—it seems to be the Wikipedia convention to title auto manufacturers (esp. the ones that both make cars and engines) by “NAME in Formula One.” (Mercedes, Honda, Renault, Alfa Romeo, etc etc etc). Ferrari seems to be an exception. Namelessposter (talk) 02:46, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
