Definiton

"It is derived from the Germanic word brun meaning Shield or Armor" while the linked Wiktionary entrance states that "From Italian, German etc continental European Bruno, name of medieval Italian and German saints and royalty, Latinized form of Old High German brūn (“brown”). To corroborate, Etymonline gives: masc. proper name, from Old High German Bruno, literally "brown"

I am really surprised that a change by an anonymous IP from "brown" to "Shield" went unchallenged from so many years!!!! Changing it back... AstroNomer (talk) 15:51, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

Article is highly inaccurate and misleading

It's mostly inaccurate about the name and it's origins. Brun and derived of this Bruno is an old northern German name, lots of Saxon dukes were called Brun/Bruno for example. It's not actually clear if the -o is due to names being latinized or not. It's not of latin or italian origin.
