Subah
[edit]The former sub divisions include an array of statuses: province, territory, county, sector, states and others. It only seems fit that this subdivision is identified by its endonym. Aditya(talk • contribs) 20:05, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
- If Province is the preferred coinage then at least link it to other provinces in the same empire, like "Province" in Roman Britain links to "Roman province", not "Province".Aditya(talk • contribs) 20:34, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
- Bazaan, talk pages are for more use than making rude comments. It's for discussion (part of policy). Do not keep reverting without a discussion. And, do not use edit summaries as discussions. Aditya(talk • contribs) 02:34, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
Conflict between articles

A few problems
[edit]The claim that "It alone accounted for 40% of Dutch imports outside the European continent" is OR. Om Prakash actually writes that: "Because Bengal alone accounted for more than 50 percent of the total of textiles and around 80 percent of the total of raw silk imported from Asia, the share of this region in the total Asian imports at the end of the seventeenth century was approximately 40 percent. This proportion was much higher for Mughal India as a whole." So it was not 40% of import outside Europe, but 40% import from Asia. The second source says nothing about Dutch import whatsoever.
Also the claim that Bengal accounted for 50% mughal empire gdp is ridiculous and based on non-reliable polemical article in some newspaper. I am going to remove it. DMKR2005 (talk) 20:02, 3 June 2021 (UTC)
Population of places other than Bengal Subah
[edit]Various IP edits over the years have left the demographics section with an odd emphasis on the population of places other than Bengal (Britain, India, Europe, and Asia). The information may be true, but is off topic. Contrast this with featured articles such as: Ancient Egypt, Byzantine Empire, Song dynasty, and Empire of Brazil. None of them discuss population estimates outside their geography. The extraneous population infomation here doesn't serve an obvious purpose, so I've removed it. --Worldbruce (talk) 00:40, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
Flag of the Bengal Subah and Nawabs of Bengal
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a partial block from editing this page has now been answered. |
Hello, I am currently unable to edit English Wikipedia due to a temporary editing restriction, but I am actively contributing to other Wikimedia projects.
I would like to request the addition of two historically sourced flags to the infobox of the Bengal Subah article. This request is made in light of the fact that a previous flag of the Bengal Subah was recently removed for lacking historical sources.
Proposed Flags:
- Flag 1 File:Bengal subah flag (Nautical).svg
- Flag 2 File:Nawabs_of_Bengal_flag.svg
These files have been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons with clear descriptions and historical justification. Unlike the previously removed flag, these designs are based on referenced historical sources.
I respectfully ask that these two flags be added to the infobox to replace the current 2 placeholders for flags.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Greatswrd (talk) 21:16, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- You may edit the page yourself, as it is not protected.
- Cheers, GalStar (talk) 18:59, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
- GalStar Thank you for your response and for confirming the page isn't protected.
- Unfortunately, I’m currently under a restriction that prevents me from editing the English Wikipedia directly, even though the page itself is not protected. As part of an appeal process, I'm required to use other Wikimedia projects for a period of time and cannot edit mainspace articles until that period is over.
- Would you be willing to kindly make the following edit to the infobox of the article for me?
- Please add these two historically accurate and sourced flags to the infobox:
- | flag =
| flag2 =
Greatswrd (talk) 09:21, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Partly done The first flag seems to have been added, however the country infobox doesn't really support having a second flag from the looks of it. GalStar (talk) 05:59, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
- After checking the infobox I can confirm that there is another parameter for a second flag, it is called 'Second flag'. I would appreciate if you could make this addition @GalStar. Greatswrd (talk) 07:19, 10 June 2025 (UTC)

Wrong Map
[edit]In 1684 Aurangzeb granted independece to Tirhut under Raj Darbhanga from Bihar Subah and they retained autonomy until 1800s... Is there any source/evidence for this wrong map which shows Tirhut under Bengal Nawab? Also there is no mention of defeat of Alivardi in 1750s during his Tirhut invasions. ~2026-11132-08 (talk) 11:23, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
