[edit]Article mentions Haida and Tlingit as though they are the same group of people but that is not correct. 2607:FB91:1528:C39A:F560:65D3:1B35:2ACD (talk) 17:44, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
not Canada, but British Columbia (which didn't join Canada until 1871)
[edit]'These raids continued even after the demarcation of the border between the United States and Canada, then controlled by the United Kingdom."
I can't help but to correct you about this statement, as to my knowledge from reading related articles just now, the last slave raids from the northern tribes occurred in 1860 - eleven years before British Columbia joined the Canadian Confederation. the history of the Colony of British Columbia is quite district from that of Canada, the same goes "Canada" as a geographic identity. in the years spoken of, it's not appropriate to refer to British Columbia as "Canada".
this error is common throughout many American articles I've wren and it's really time to learn the lesson... sorry to quibble , but we're kinda sensitive about our oorder lately. not just the Haida and Tlingit, also the Tsimshian
[edit]Just to note that these groups were not unified nations but typically had allies from other peoples; the Haida of Ninstints (Sgung Gwaay) at the southern tip of Haida Gwaii, were traditional allies of the Heiltsuk of Bella Coola. I think the Haida in the case of this particular alliance eerie the Masset, the Tlingit were the Tongass kwaan, today known as the Cape Fox Tribe but no longer located at Tongass Island. The Tsimshian group were a traditional ally of the Massets but I'm not sure which of the many Tsimshian it was - Gitwinshilkw maybe, not Lax Kwa'laams (Port Simpson) - though that village/band an alliance of several groups so it maybe was one of them. 2604:3D08:5776:7900:BC9C:7FFF:6FBD:AD12 (talk) 19:21, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
