Etymological origin of the name Barattarna

[edit]

Barattarna derived from Bharata (भारत)?  Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.174.129.115 (talk) 18:07, 13 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

As Mitanni people were seafaring race, It is probably related to Ancient goddess Barati (or Saraswati), known as goddess of sea & water. Sir blue (talk) 05:03, 26 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

It is Barattarna

[edit]

Hello,

I think It should moved to Barattarna From Parshatatar, I see in more sources although both are true. Sir blue (talk) 08:18, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

His name is mentioned in a record from Nuzi dated to "when king Barattarna died and was cremated". Sir blue (talk) 10:45, 27 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Alternative views

[edit]

I don't really know how to reconcile these "Alternative views" with the rest of the article; but von Dassow is just one other opinion. There are also others, for example Mirko Novak 2007, "Mittani empire and the question of absolute chronology." gives a similar chart. The matter is obviously quite complicated.
