MOS and citation cleanup, May 2026

[edit]

Made a round of maintenance edits. Summary:

Formulas: Three displayed equations used colon-indentation, which produces invalid HTML and fails screen readers. Converted all three to <math display=block> per MOS:FORMULA.

CS1 errors: Domowitz & Lee (1996) was in {{cite journal}}: Empty citation (help) but is not a journal article; CrossRef finds no matching journal entry and ResearchGate identifies it as a working paper or book chapter. Changed to {{cite book}}: Empty citation (help) with a TODO for the publisher field. Smith (2010) had the same problem; changed to (Report). {{cite report}}: Missing or empty |title= (help). Both patent citations used |date=, which   rejects; changed to |issue-date=.

WP:CIRCULAR: The VWAP section cited the Wikipedia article on Volume-weighted average price. Removed; attribution replaced with inline prose. A TODO is left for a primary academic source.

Sources removed: Two citations to telegramtrading.net (self-published) and one to techberry.ai (promotional). The 2014 HFT statistic was already supported by a Fortune citation.

Dates: Added ; the article used MDY throughout but had no declaring template. Normalized two DMY prose dates and two citation dates with mixed formats.

Categories: Removed and per WP:OVERCATEGORIZATION; both are parent categories of , already present.

Lead: Expanded to four paragraphs per MOS:LEAD, adding regulatory context (FINRA surveillance, 2010 Flash Crash).
