Ahem, both in this article and in Sampson Gamgee's the latter is claimed to have been Arthur's uncle, yet Sampson's dates are given as 1828-1886, and Arthur's 1841-1909. What is wrong? Súrendil16:51, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
The dates are correct; they're brothers. Source is the entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography I've cited in the article. It may not be open access, but there should be a free version of an earlier edition on Google Books.
