  • ... that Althea Hunt founded the William & Mary Theatre, but discouraged students from trying to make a career of it?

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
    • Cited: Yes - Offline/paywalled citation accepted in good faith
    • Interesting: Yes

    QPQ: Unknown
Overall: New enough (created 1 Jan), well over the length minimum at nearly 1500 words, EW 22.5% due to a source title, hook is interesting and stated in article. Could you provide a quote/snippet from Berkeley 1997 to support the second clause of hook? NYT obit verifies first clause. QPQ pending the outcome of a broader themed set discussion, otherwise looks good to go. Zzz plant (talk) 01:52, 8 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the review! The first QPQs will come through tomorrow (I volunteered three for each hook, as I think you saw). This is a quote from the Berkeley piece:
    • "But, accusing educators of fostering students' illusions about their ability to succeed in professional theatre, Althea Hunt articulated the opinion of several who urged that teachers dissuade students from planning to enter the profession"
    Thanks again. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 02:18, 8 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Great, thanks for the quote- hook fully verified. I'll circle back to formally tick the final box once QPQ is done. Best, Zzz plant (talk) 02:31, 8 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

    Prose

    [edit]
    Lead
    • "who was on the faculty at the College of William & Mary for 35 years and established the William & Mary Theatre" → "who was on the faculty at the College of William & Mary for 35 years, where she established the William & Mary Theatre"
      • Done.
    • "Born in Ohio, Hunt taught as an English teacher" → "Born in Ohio, Hunt worked as an English teacher"
      • Done. "Taught as a teacher" what was I thinking?!
    • "Hunt participated in research and, following her retirement from the college, edited a book" → "Hunt conducted research and, following her retirement from the college, edited a book"
      • I tried another option. Please check if you like it.
    • Could we include (1890-1971) in the short description per WP:SDDATES?
      • It doesn't quite fit with WP:SD40 but I could try truncating the non-digit portion of the description. I think any description of Hunt is sufficient to serve the shortdesc's disambiguation purpose.
    • Could we link "faculty" to academic staff?
      • I feel like that may be overlinking of a common term, but I'll do it and let anyone who doesn't like it remove it.
    Early life and career
    • "She then taught at John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia, where she would remain for several years." → "She then taught at John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia, where she remained for several years."
      • Done.
    Work at William & Mary
    • "the building featured a large auditorium, which intended as a host events featuring public speaking" → "the building featured a large auditorium, which was intended to host events featuring public speaking"
      • Done.
    • "students liked Hunt for her punctuality and demanding nature, and Chandler felt that he had made the right decision" → "students liked Hunt for her punctuality and demanding nature, and Chandler felt he had made the right decision"
      • Done.
    • "The course had been initially interpreted as easy by the students" → "The course was initially interpreted as easy by the students"
      • Done.
    • "appearing after the play was published... the year prior" → "appearing after the play was published... the previous year"
      • Done.
    • "Hunt opposed encouraging students to pursue a career in theater and criticized professors who did so." → "Hunt opposed encouraging students to pursue careers in theater and criticized professors who did so."
      • Done.

@Pbritti That's all from me for the prose. I intend to conduct the source-to-text spot check over the weekend before we conclude. Best, MSincccc (talk) 06:37, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Missed this ping. I'm rather busy tomorrow but wholly free Monday. I'll do my best to complete my side of the review then, if this is acceptable. Thank you for your thorough review. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 02:20, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

All's fine then. The spot check to follow. MSincccc (talk) 14:23, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
