In the ADL article, its pro-Israel advocacy is mentioned in the lede, and a huge chunk of the article is dedicated to criticism of its pro-Israel stance.
In the Al Jazeera article, its pro-Palestinian advocacy - which constitutes a similarly central focus for the network as pro-Israel advocacy is for the ADL - is never even mentioned in the article; not even once. pro-Palestinian/anti-Israel misinformation published by AJA and later retracted (or kept) is well-documented, as is its strong pro-Palestinian bias. In fact, pro-Palestinian advocacy is arguably what AJA is best known for by the general public.
If you read the opening sentence of the second paragraph, we have touched on Al Jazeera’s reporting on the Gaza–Israel conflict. However, it would not be neutral to describe Al Jazeera as a pro-Palestinian advocacy group. You are comparing the ADL and Al Jazeera, but they are not the same. Al Jazeera is a news media organization. 🐈Cinaroot💬06:26, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
The second paragraph mentions it does "in-depth coverage" of the Gaza-Israel conflict. It says nothing about Al Jazeera's pro-Palestinian advocacy or bias.
As for describing Al Jazeera as an advocacy group, I agree this would be inaccurate, since it doesn't ONLY do advocacy; it also does journalism, even if it's biased. But mentioning that Al Jazeera is known for its pro-Palestinian advocacy would be a neutral and well-supported statement, as reported by several reliable sources. Al Jazeera narrowly avoids outright stating its pro-Palestinian position (unlike ADL, which says it outright), but it does position itself as "an alternative to Western media" that serves as a counterbalance to the "Western bias", and it's pretty clear what this means in this context, since Israel is Western-aligned.
Anyway, can we agree that the fact that there is NO mention of its Palestinian and anti-Israel bias in the entire article - even in the Reception section - is not neutral? MeaningBasedOntology (talk) 13:46, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sure, Al Jazeera is currently reporting extensively on the Gaza war. That’s part of what they do- covering conflicts in the Middle East, such as the Arab Spring and others. 🐈Cinaroot💬06:31, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Not sure what value you thought this comment would add to the discussion. I'm not denying that Al Jazeera covers the Gaza war. I'm just saying it quite obviously isn't neutral not to mention Al Jazeera's pro-Palestinian bias at all in this page, despite this being well-documented and being arguably what Al Jazeera is best known for.
