Adivasis vs NE tribal groups ?

Shouldn't Adivasi and NE tribal groups be considered as separate ? Adivasi is used only for the aboriginal groups of Austroloid origin who today speaks a variety of languages including Indo-Aryan. NE tribals are ST but aren't considered as Adivasis. So there should be separate articles for "Adivasis" and "Tribals of Northeast India". Tizen03 (talk) 10:52, 28 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

I agree, also since the religion part only covers Animism and Hinduism in detail. That doesn't really make sense if the NE tribes are lumped into the article as well, with three majority tribal, majority Christian states in the NER (Christianity in India article). Ambedkar quote attribution

This longish quote, attributed to Ambedkar has no citation: "why I substituted the word "scheduled" for the word "aboriginal" the explanation is ... the word 'scheduled tribe' has a fixed meaning, because it enumerates the tribes ... the word 'Adibasi' is really a general term which has no specific legal de jure connotation, something like the Untouchables [Dalits]. Anybody may include anybody in the term 'untouchable' [and Adibasi]. ...by this Constitution, we are conferring certain privileges, certain rights on these Adibasis. In order that, if the matter was taken to a court of law there should be a precise definition as to who are these Adibasis, it was decided to invent, so to say, another category or another term to be called 'Scheduled tribes' and to enumerate the Adibasis under that head." Bangladesh section does not match cited source

The Bangladesh paragraph appears to contain material that is not supported by the cited source (https://www.refworld.org/reference/countryrep/mrgi/2018/en/121723). The source does not mention Sylhet, Meitei, Bishnupriya Manipuri, Sauria Paharia, Kurukh, Munda, Bawm, Mizo, Mru, Rakhine, Theravada Buddhism, or the claim that Buddhism influenced the animistic beliefs of other Adivasis. Could the editor who added these statements provide supporting reliable sources? Otherwise, the paragraph should be revised to match the cited reference.
