Wikipedia is based on reliable sources, not our own opinions. Saying, "Ukraine attacked an Iranian ship, therefore Ukraine has joined the war" is original research. The sources say that Ukraine struck an Iranian vessel that was well inside Russian waters, and was being used to transport military cargo to Russia. That would make it part of the Russo-Ukrainian War, not the Iran War. – Asarlaí(talk)09:11, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
"Ukraine has joined the war" is not the standard for inclusion in the infobox. Do you really think that all of the parties listed currently in the infobox have reliable sources stating that they have "entered the war"? The standard is whether reliable sources state that Ukraine has engaged in belligerent actions (or has been a recipient of belligerent actions). Ukraine has engaged in belligerent actions, as reported on by many reliable sources. JasonMacker (talk) 14:27, 10 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
It should be verified whether the other Gulf countries included have actually carried out certain military attacks and declared to have done so, or whether these are just rumours written by the press. ~2026-36818-47 (talk) 11:10, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= parameter to no to reactivate your request.
Description of suggested change:
I recommend replacing "de jure" (by law) with "de facto" (in fact). I would also recommend adding the start date of the temporary ceasefire.
Something done I removed the "de jure" which seemed to be unsupported by sourced text (added here without explanation—Wikitalovin1 is there something I'm missing?). I didn't add "de facto" because strikes are still ongoing to a degree, even if not apparently between the lead parties of the war, so it's not clear there's a de facto ceasefire either. I do think the sort-of-ceasefire happening now is best described in the article body rather than the infobox Placeholderer (talk) 17:21, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is in fact a temporary cessation of bombing of Iran by the United States, which does not imply that they cannot attack ships for the blockade, and does not imply that attacks by Iran and other entities will occur. ~2026-36818-47 (talk) 19:29, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

This template must be followed by a complete and specific description of the request, that is, specify what text should be removed and a verbatim copy of the text that should replace it. "Please change X" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "please change X to Y".
The edit may be made by any extended confirmed user. Remember to change the |answered=no parameter to "yes" when the request has been accepted, rejected or on hold awaiting user input. This is so that inactive or completed requests don't needlessly fill up the edit requests category. You may also wish to use the {{subst:EEp}} template in the response. Consider making changes first to the template's sandbox before submitting an edit request. To request that a page be protected or unprotected, make a protection request.
Please add a United States/Israel strike marker at Taybad, Razavi Khorasan Province, Iran.

Ukraine recently struck an Iranian flagged tanker. With Iran and Ukraine both threatening long range strikes on each other and or their resources/trade. ~2026-41893-43 (talk) 22:26, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Iran, Ukraine pledge to avoid escalation following deadly attack on Iranian ship. Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday that his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, has assured him that Ukraine's Saturday attack on an Iranian commercial ship was "unintentional" and that Ukraine "does not seek escalation." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that his country's forces had hit a Russian warship and vessels used for transporting Iran-linked military cargo in the Caspian Sea. https://english.news.cn/20260729/24a3e8b7245d462d889ff2d17ac8fd52/c.html~2026-36818-47 (talk) 23:25, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
There are currently listed belligerents that have less participation in this conflict than Ukraine. Clearly, Ukraine has engaged in belligerent actions against Iran and should be added to both the infobox and the body of the article (which doesn't even directly mention Ukraine's hostile violent actions against Iran). Please change by adding Mohammad Pakpour (with an X to indicate his passing) to the infobox as an Iranian leader. This is clearly desirable as he was the commander-in-chief of the IRGC at the start of the war, and was replaced by Ahmad Vahidi, who appropriately IS listed on the commander list as living; clearly we agree this is one of the few roles that is worth listing, so the initial holder of this role should certainly be in the table.

Hello, would it be pertinent to add a section for new weapons encountered, delivered or tested during this war? Maybe a whole new article for it? JaredThornbridge (talk) 17:00, 29 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I want to hear everyone's thoughts here on including non-state actors against Iran in the belligerents list of the Iran war infobox (also being extensions of ethnic conflicts that had begun long before). I've heard sources say in regards to Kurdish (Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan) and Balochi (People's Fighters Front) militant groups that the American-Israeli strikes had deliberately targeted Iranian military bases and border posts in the northeast and southwest regions to allow for incursions for the two separatist groups. And also in regards to Ahwaz Falcons, they claimed early involvement in raiding an Iranian base, although I hadn't heard of them again since. That said, Iran had definitely engaged in skirmishes against Kurdish and Balochi groups and had before accused Israel and the US of supporting them. What do you all think? Infobox photo

I believe the Infobox should feature photos of the war instead of a map, Photos would better emphasize the human scale and reality of the ongoing conflict. Cena332 (talk) 18:09, 5 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I support this. The map is just a blue blob covering Iran now as well as a horde of red indicators. The map should be kept in the article body, but the infobox should instead feature a selection of images represent the war. Cortador (talk) 19:46, 5 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
