WikiProject coverage
[edit]I had removed WP KY because the competition is not a state-level competition, and the subject only pertains to Louisville as it is the event site. Therefore, dual project coverage is unnecessary per the projects' inclusion rules. It does no particular harm to keep KY, but it adds to project bloat. Stefen 𝕋owers among the rest! - Dunno, seems like with a major sporting event held in the state, having Kentucky should be included. Per {{WikiProject Kentucky}}, "This project covers the creation and editing of articles related to the U.S. state of Kentucky, its cities, counties, geography, transportation, culture, history and so on," which kind of goes to that point. When looking at other sports held in/near Louisville, Kentucky Derby, Louisville Bats, Racing Louisville FC, Louisville City FC, and Hillerich & Bradsby (aka Louisville Slugger) all have the dual Kentucky/Louisville projects. It makes no difference to me since I'm not a part of either, but would seem to potentially go against the sporting consensus (or y'all have some major inconsistencies). - In WP KY's "Templates" section, it says "If the article is related to the Louisville metropolitan area or WikiProject Louisville, use |Louisville=yes instead." In practice, though, if a subject is truly shared between both entities, it goes into both. So it comes down to interpretation. My interpretation is that if something is genuinely pertaining only to Louisville, that's the only project that is necessary. Just because an event happens also within the state is rather immaterial, as then one could also say the article should be included in even larger geographical projects (note that it's automatically included in WP United States anyway). Also, I'm unsure that any sporting consensus as such has any controlling factor over geographical wikiprojects.
- Per my interpretation, much of the Louisville-centric subjects you listed shouldn't also be in WP KY, although Kentucky Derby is an exception as it's widely considered to be a state-level event. I am not fastidious enough to have corrected all the project inclusions up to this point. Stefen 𝕋owers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 20:22, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
- All good brother, do whatever you feel is best. Or maybe clarify that with the projects/get consensus, then swing back around? Either or, if you decide to re-flip, I'm not going to bother with it either. GauchoDude (talk) 21:17, 6 June 2025 (UTC)
