Sarah Bossard (Alemannic German pronunciation: [ˈzaːʁa ˈbɔsaʁt]; born 1982) is a Sri Lankan–born Swiss film and television producer and domestic partner of Alice Weidel, current co-chairwoman of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party since June 2022.[1][2][3]

Biography

Bossard was born in 1982 in Sri Lanka, and, at three-months old, was adopted by a Swiss pastor in Appenzell, Switzerland.[4][5][6] She studied at the Los Angeles Film School.[2] She is a member of the Independent Producers and founder her own company Kopernikus Films AG in 2019.[2][7]

Political stance

Bossard publicly campaigned for "Marriage for All" and advocated voting "yes" in the successful 2021 Swiss same-sex marriage referendum.[8] She described campaigns against referendum as "tasteless" and out of touch with reality.[9]

Personal life

Bossard is openly lesbian and has been in a registered relationship with Alice Weidel since 2009.[10][11][12] In the early 2010s, Bossard encouraged Weidel to enter politics and act on her concerns she constantly ranted about.[13] Since 2019, they have lived with their two sons in Einsiedeln, Switzerland.[1][14] The older son was born to Bossard.[5][15]

In October 2023, Bossards family left their apartment in Berlin for constantly receiving death threats.[5][16][17] In 2026, their older son was harassed in the school, calling him a "Nazi" due to Weidel's political position.[4]
