SBC Summit is an international series of business-to-business conferences and trade exhibitions for the betting, gambling and related technology industries. The events are organised by SBC, a media and events company originally established as Sports Betting Community.[1]
The series consists of a flagship international event, held in Lisbon, Portugal, and several regionally focused conferences. Events under the SBC Summit name have been held in Europe, North America, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Conference programmes generally cover sports betting, online casino products, gambling regulation, payments, marketing, affiliate operations, sports integrity, player protection, data services and emerging technologies. Participants include gambling operators, technology suppliers, regulators, industry associations, media organisations and professional service providers.
History
[edit]SBC was established in 2009 as a professional community centred on the sports-betting industry. Its early activities included meetings and industry discussions in London, before the organisation expanded into media publishing, conferences and trade exhibitions.
The flagship summit was first held as SBC Summit Barcelona in 2021 at the Fira de Barcelona in Spain. The event was organised as a combined conference and exhibition for companies and professionals working in sports betting, online gambling, payments and associated services.
In September 2023, SBC announced that the flagship conference would relocate from Barcelona to Lisbon beginning with its 2024 edition. The organiser stated that the Barcelona venue no longer provided sufficient capacity for the event. Following the relocation, the name was shortened from SBC Summit Barcelona to SBC Summit.[2]
The flagship event has subsequently been staged at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa, with parts of its programme also using the nearby MEO Arena.
Regional expansion
[edit]SBC expanded the Summit format through events focused on individual geographical markets.
SBC Summit Tbilisi was introduced in 2023 in cooperation with Georgian company SMH Global. The conference focuses primarily on betting and gambling markets in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.[3]
SBC Summit Rio was launched in Rio de Janeiro in 2024. Its programme focuses on Brazil and the wider Latin American market, including regulatory developments, localisation, payments and relationships between gambling businesses and the sports industry.[4]
SBC Summit Americas was introduced in 2025 after SBC combined its SBC Summit North America and SBC Summit Latinoamérica events. The resulting conference, based in Fort Lauderdale, covers both North and Latin American markets.[5]
SBC Summit Malta was introduced under that name in 2025 as a continuation of the CasinoBeats Summit. The rebranding expanded the event's original casino-focused programme to include sports betting, payments, regulation, marketing and other gambling-industry sectors.[6]
Format
[edit]SBC Summit events typically combine a trade exhibition with panel discussions, keynote presentations, workshops and meetings between companies and industry representatives. Conference sessions are commonly divided into subject-specific tracks covering areas such as:
- gambling regulation and compliance;
- sports betting and casino technology;
- payments and financial technology;
- advertising and affiliate marketing;
- player protection and responsible gambling;
- sports integrity and data rights;
- cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
Some editions also include start-up presentations, product demonstrations and industry award ceremonies.
