Kornel Filipowicz (27 October 1913 – 28 February 1990) was a Polish novelist, poet, screenwriter and short stories writer.[1][2][3][4][5]
Biography
[edit]The son of Karol Filipowicz and Stanisława née Futyma.[5] He graduated from a mathematics and natural sciences gymnasium in Cieszyn.[5] In 1933 he enrolled at the Jagiellonian University to study biology.[5] He joined the Związek Niezależnej Młodzieży Socjalistycznej.[5]
In 1945 he married Maria Jarema.[5] From 1975, he was a board member of the Kraków Branch of the Polish Writers' Union (ZLP), and from 1980, its vice-president.[5] In 1964 he married Maria Próchnicka.[5] From 1967 he was in a relationship with Wisława Szymborska.[5] He was buried at the Salwator Cemetery.[5]
