Infomate (Private) Limited, known as Infomate, a Sri Lankan company that provides business process management (BPM) and business process outsourcing (BPO) services.[1][2] Founded in 2005, it is a wholly owned subsidiary of John Keells Holdings (JKH), one of Sri Lanka's largest business groups, and was the country's first shared services centre.[3][4][5]
The company is based in Colombo and serves clients in Sri Lanka and international markets, including Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the Nordic countries, and the Middle East.[3][5] Infomate has been included in Everest Group's PEAK Matrix assessments for finance and accounting services [6] and holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification for information security.[7]
History
[edit]Infomate was established in 2005 as an in-house shared services centre for companies within the John Keells Holdings group, tasked with standardising and automating financial processes across JKH's subsidiaries using SAP best practices.[3][4]
The company later expanded from an internal service provider into a commercial BPO business serving external clients, securing its first international client in Norway.[3] It has since grown from an initial team of around 60 employees to about 650, ranking among the top six BPO exporters in Sri Lanka.[5][4]
Rural BPO model
[edit]In 2007, Infomate established Sri Lanka's first rural BPO model in partnership with the Foundation for Advancing Rural Opportunities (FARO), aiming to set up outsourcing centres in rural areas that would employ local youth and reduce migration to cities.[3][4][8]
Three rural BPO centres were established under this model:
- Ontime Private Limited in Mahavilachchiya, founded in 2007.[4]
- Seenigama BPO Technologies in Seenigama, established with the Foundation of Goodness.[3][8]
- Jaffna BPO Technology in Jaffna, founded in 2013.[4]
These centres employ young people from rural areas, predominantly women, for back-office and data processing work.[4][8]
Operations
[edit]Infomate focuses on primarily finance and accounting outsourcing.[4] Its main services include finance and accounting outsourcing (FAO), back office and data processing, business process improvement, customer help-desk and lead generation support, and human resource outsourcing (HRO) and payroll management.[4][9]
