Fred Barivure Kpakol is an accountant and politician. He served as Rivers State Finance Commissioner between 2015 and 2019.He also served as the Commissioner for Agriculture between 2019 and 2022. He is a native of B-Dere in Gokana. He studied accounting and finance at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and graduated with a B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance. He went further to do his master's degree in Banking and Finance at Federal University of Technology Owerri and he later had his Ph.D. degree in Banking, Finance and Taxation from Rivers State University of Science and Technology.[1] Kpakol is affiliated with the People's Democratic Party and has served as Chairman of Gokana local government area.[2] He is also a former Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria Rivers State Branch.[3]
Early life and education
[edit]Fred Barivure Kpakol was born on 26 May 1961 in Baranyonwa Dere, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria.
He attended Rivers State University of Science and Technology, where he studied Accountancy and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. He later pursued postgraduate studies, earning a master's degree from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and a doctorate degree in Banking and Finance from Rivers State University of Science and Technology.
His academic background in accounting, banking, and finance preceded his later career in public service and administration.[4][5]
Career
[edit]Fred Barivure Kpakol began his career in the fields of accounting, banking, and finance before entering public service. His academic training in accountancy and banking and finance provided the foundation for his professional background.
He entered politics as Chairman of Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he served in local government administration.
Kpakol later joined the Rivers State Government as Commissioner for Finance and served as a member of the Rivers State Executive Council. In that capacity, he was responsible for the administration of the state's finance portfolio.
Following his tenure as Commissioner for Finance, Kpakol continued to participate in public service and held advisory roles within government.[6][7][8]
