Citing references to early writings with no online verification

I'm getting closer to submitting this article for review, but I have questions. As Ken Schneider's daughter, I have hard copies of journals Ken's articles were published in but in many cases, those journals are not archived or even exist anymore. And I can't scan even a table of contents due to copyright, right? Does that mean I'm out of luck? Thanks! Climbingwater (talk) 04:28, 5 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't know about the copyrights on scanning for archival purposes (a question for Wikipedia:Media copyright questions), but not having an online copy does not mean game over. Someone else may be able to find a copy, or one may come online in the future, or even just a mention of it in an online index or list of some kind. We aren't citing them for any content, so we don't need to be able to read his articles, we just need verification that they exist. As for AfC, I doubt one (citation needed) tag on one entry in his bibliography is going to hurt you much, the rest of it seems pretty well put together to me. I just skimmed the three refs about his disappearance and cited some more of that section with them, but I didn't read all the refs to see if the other content in the first paragraph of the career section is in one of the other sources. - Adolphus79 (talk) 05:37, 5 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @Adolphus79! I've added a reference to a more modern but still not Internet-readable publication, Nautilus Magazine, namely the editor's note by Kevin Berger in Issue 34.
