Pronunciation: /ˈbluː.kɪt/ or /ˈblʊ.kɪt/

On Blooket's official website, the pronunciation used sounds closer to /ˈblʊ.kɪt/, but Wikipedia's IPA currently writes it as /ˈbluː.kɪt/. While the text pronunciation guide does say blue-kit, I believe the pronunciation's audio is more accurate to how it is meant to be pronounced rather than some non-linguist approximation. I can hear both and the issue with vowels is that they are extremely fluid. As a result, I am suspicious of any analyzation we make as editors. I think the best choice if we believe that the text is not accurate is to remove that information. ✶Quxyz✶ (talk) 17:18, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

It also might be best to remove it since Wikipedia is by nature descriptivist and I do not believe most people pronounce it as /BLOO-kit/ but instead /BLUH-kit/ or even /BLUH-ket/. ✶Quxyz✶ (talk) 17:26, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

If the website has one thing in writing and something that may be different in an audio file (it sounds ambiguous to me), why would you choose one and not the other as authoritative? In any event, English stressed open syllables don't end in short vowel, so /ˈblʊ.kɪt/ is impossible. Largoplazo (talk) 20:02, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

Could it be that the /k/ is part of the first syllable's coda instead of the second syllable's onset? That reanalysis does make /ˈblʊk.ɪt/ possible. La Qinglü (talk) 19:09, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

Without a source, that reanalysis is meaningless. As far I can tell, the only two options in line with policy is /BLOO-kit/ or not having a pronunciation. ✶Quxyz✶ (talk) 20:59, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
