Tyler James Robinson (born 2003) is an American individual charged in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk in September 2025 in Utah.

Early Life and Education

Tyler Robinson was born in 2003 in Washington County, Utah, United States. He graduated from Pine View High School in 2021, earning an ACT score of 34. He briefly attended Utah State University on scholarship but dropped out after one semester. At the time of the incident, he was enrolled in an electrical apprenticeship program at Dixie Technical College in St. George, Utah. Robinson reportedly grew up in a conservative family but later adopted political views described by officials as left-leaning.

Shooting of Charlie Kirk

On September 10, 2025, at an event hosted by Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, Kirk was shot and later died. Robinson was identified as the suspect following a manhunt lasting more than 30 hours. His father recognized him in released surveillance images, and a youth pastor helped facilitate his surrender to authorities.
