Sooner Generating Station is a coal-fired power plant in the United States in Oklahoma.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4] In 2025 the Environmental Defense Fund and other environmental organisations sued saying it had been granted an exemption by the Environmental Protection Agency.^[5]

In 2026 the Department of Energy granted it $22.5 million for a new control system saying that the plant was critical to support growth in local electricity demand,^[6] and Oklahoma Gas & Electric will contribute $35 million.^[7] The government money is provided under the Defense Production Act, but critics claim that new gas-fire or renewable power would be cheaper.^[8]
