Its services include consulting, sales, training, and technical support for drone systems. The company is one of the largest partners of the Chinese technology company DJI in Europe and operates internationally across eight countries: Germany (headquarters), Brazil, China, India, Italy, Poland, Austria, and Thailand[5].
The company is jointly managed by Denis Hausberger and Olaf Kappler[5].
Drones
[edit]In the industrial sector, drones are used in agriculture, environmental technology, surveying, construction sites, and inspection services. As a result, Solectric GmbH primarily serves customers from the agricultural sector, public authorities and organizations with security responsibilities (BOS), as well as the energy industry.[6]
In the consumer market, drones are distributed in cooperation with its partner DJI.[7] As part of this partnership, Solectric GmbH operates DJI retail stores ("DJI Stores") in Frankfurt am Main[6] (since 2017), Oberhausen[7], Munich[8] (since 2023), Vienna[9] (since 2024), and Hamburg[10] (since 2025).
Cameras, Robotics, and Smart Home Products
[edit]In addition to drones, Solectric also distributes a wide range of other DJI products, including handheld cameras (Osmo Pocket), action cameras (Osmo Action), camera stabilizers (DJI Ronin), household robotics products (Romo), and cameras from the Hasselblad brand, which was acquired by DJI in 2017.
Solectric GmbH is also the official distribution partner of the Chinese company Obsbot[11], which specializes in streaming equipment such as webcams featuring pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) functionality that are widely used for live streaming and digital content creation. In 2026, Obsbot became the Official Camera and Webcam Partner[12] of the annual Esports World Cup.
Beyond visual media products, Solectric's business portfolio also includes robotics products, smart home devices such as surveillance cameras, smart motorcycle assistants[13], and 3D printers.
As a strategic partner of the RoboGarten project[14], Solectric supports the initiative's goal of providing businesses with a unified platform solution for robotics and automation applications.
Education and Social Engagement

In cooperation with providers of STEM/STEAM learning solutions, the company develops digital educational products for self-study and STEM training programs. To support this initiative, Solectric GmbH maintains a partnership with the Auerbach Foundation's Future Lab in Bruchsal (Z-Lab), which is dedicated to promoting "future skills" in schools[15].
As part of this collaboration, Solectric provides hardware and software products—including robots from the Chinese manufacturer Makeblock[16] and 3D printers from Chinese manufacturer xTool—as well as teaching materials and online educational resources[17]
Solectric's customers in the education sector include a number of universities and higher education institutions, among them the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Technical University of Munich, RWTH Aachen University, the Technical University of Dortmund as well as the Humboldt University of Berlin.
Solectric is the official sponsor of the German National Drone Soccer Team. In this competitive sport, which originated in South Korea and is now played internationally[18], two teams of five pilots each attempt to fly specially designed, spherical protective drones through the opposing team's goal. In February 2026, the World Air Sports Federation (FAI) proposed Drone Soccer, alongside Drone Racing, as an official discipline for the 2029 World Games, which will be held in Karlsruhe.
History
[edit]Solectric GmbH was founded in 1986 by Dr. Helmut Hausberger and initially specialized in photovoltaic systems. In 2007, his son Denis Hausberger took over the company and shifted its focus toward LED lighting technology.
In 2013, the company's management structure was expanded with the appointment of Olaf Kappler as co-managing director, marking the beginning of Solectric's transition into the drone business[19]
In 2016, the company expanded its portfolio to include industrial solutions, positioning itself as a partner for public authorities and businesses seeking customized drone solutions and consulting services.
In 2017, Solectric established its "Educational Solutions" division to provide digital education solutions and educational equipment.[20]
