Sola Air is a Swedish virtual airline headquartered in Karlstad, Sweden. Operating from its main hub at Karlstad Airport (IATA: KSD, ICAO: ESOK), the company markets regional passenger routes connecting Värmland to regional aviation hubs in Scandinavia. Flights marketed by Sola Air are operated under an ACMI (wet-lease) agreement by the Estonian carrier NyxAir.

History

Sola Air was established in 2024 by investment group Lars Wingefors AB to restore direct scheduled commercial air links to Värmland following periods of reduced regional traffic at Karlstad Airport.

Scheduled commercial operations officially commenced in April 2025^[1], offering regular direct connections to major hubs in Denmark and Sweden.

Operations and Business Model

Sola Air operates as a "virtual airline", meaning it handles ticket marketing, distribution, and local brand management, while outsource flight operations, aircraft maintenance, and air crew logistics to an established air operator certificate (AOC) holder. Sola Air's flights are operated by Estonian regional airline NyxAir.^[2]
