Pau Resta Tell (born 14 November 2000) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Polish Ekstraklasa club GKS Katowice. A graduate of the Girona youth system, he has also represented Albacete Balompié, Sabadell and Korona Kielce.[1][2]

Club career

[edit]

Girona and Albacete

[edit]

Resta spent seven years in Girona's academy. At the age of 18, he took part in a first-team pre-season under manager Juan Carlos Unzué and was subsequently named in three senior matchday squads in the Segunda División, although he did not make a competitive first-team appearance for the club.[1][3] He instead played senior football with Girona's reserve side in the Tercera División.

On 23 June 2021, Resta signed a three-year contract with Albacete Balompié.[1][3] He played primarily for the club's reserve team, Atlético Albacete, while continuing to train with the senior squad.[4]

Resta made his first-team league debut on 19 December 2021, starting in a 3–1 Primera Federación victory over Algeciras CF.[5] He also started Albacete's 1–0 defeat against Cádiz CF in the second round of the 2021–22 Copa del Rey.[6]

Sabadell

[edit]

On 1 September 2022, Albacete announced that Resta had joined Primera Federación club Sabadell. Albacete retained a percentage of any future transfer fee.[7]

He made 22 league appearances during his first season and became a regular starter in the following campaign, playing in all 37 league matches and scoring five goals.[8] On 24 February 2024, he headed the only goal of a league victory over Real Unión. Mundo Deportivo rated him as Sabadell's leading performer in the match and noted his contribution in both defence and attack.[9]

Korona Kielce

[edit]

Following the expiry of his Sabadell contract, Resta joined Polish Ekstraklasa club Korona Kielce on 12 July 2024. He signed a contract until June 2026 which included an option for another season.[10]

Resta was initially used sparingly by manager Kamil Kuzera, who stated at the beginning of the season that the defender was not yet ready for Ekstraklasa football. After Jacek Zieliński replaced Kuzera, Resta gained a place in the starting line-up.[11]

On 15 September 2024, he scored his first Ekstraklasa goal with a header in the eighth minute of a 2–0 home victory over Zagłębie Lubin.[12] His overall performance in the match was highlighted by Sport.pl, which described him as a central figure in Korona's victory.[11]

Across two seasons with Korona, Resta made 54 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.[8][2] His league record for the club was 49 appearances and six goals.[13]

GKS Katowice

[edit]

On 25 June 2026, GKS Katowice announced the permanent signing of Resta from Korona. The transfer became effective on 1 July, and he signed a four-year contract running until 30 June 2030.[2][8]

Resta made his league debut for GKS on 26 July 2026, starting the opening match of the 2026–27 Ekstraklasa season, a 2–1 away defeat against Wisła Kraków.[14]
