Comment: Please remove all LLM-generated text; ideally you should start over by removing all text from the draft (without removing any review templates). We do not necessarily expect you to write perfect or polished English. If you need general advice or formatting help, see Help:Your first article and Help:Referencing for beginners. Mutiny of Colours is an Iranian documentary film about graffiti and street art in Iran. The film follows five Iranian street artists and shows their work, daily lives, and some of the problems they face while making street art in the country.[1]
The artists featured in the documentary include Keyvan Shovir (CK1), Omet, Icy and Sot, and Lady Green.[1]
Content
[edit]The documentary is divided into four episodes and follows five Iranian street artists.[1][2]
The artists talk about the risks and difficulties of making graffiti in Iran. The film deals with police surveillance, arrest, censorship, accusations of promoting Western culture or Satanism, and the removal of new street works by municipal authorities.[1][3]
Because they were worried about being identified, the five artists appear with masks during the interview scenes. The filmmakers also blurred the artists' faces in footage shot on the streets.[1]
Production
[edit]Paliz Khoshdel served as the film's producer, cinematographer and editor, in addition to co-directing the documentary..[1][2]
Vice reported that Khoshdel and Tabrizy had received permission to film in Tehran, but they were still questioned by police and intelligence officers while shooting.[1]
On one occasion, police told them to delete footage in order to avoid having their camera seized. On another occasion, officers took their identification cards, recorded their phone numbers, and threatened to confiscate the camera.[1]
The filmmakers first financed the project themselves. After their personal funds ran out, they launched a crowdfunding campaign to continue the film.[1][2]
Media coverage
[edit]In July 2015, Brooklyn Street Art included Mutiny of Colours in its Film Friday series and described it as a documentary about a growing street-art scene in Iran.[4]
In November 2015, Vice published an article about the documentary and the treatment of street artists in Iran.[1]
IranWire also discussed the documentary in a report about Iranian street artists and their experiences.[3]
