Rabbi Meshulam ben Shlomo Finkelstein was a rabbi, posek, and author of books on theoretical subjects, halachic matters, and the field of musar.
Rabbi Finkelstein lived and worked in Warsaw. His works were widely accepted by the public as practical guidance and were even printed as supplements to popular editions of the books he explicated, such as "Elef HaMagen," in the Piotrków 1905 and Warsaw 1913 editions; "Tosafot Chachamim" in the Warsaw 1915 edition of the Mishnayot; "Minchat Shabbat" in Chok LeYisrael, Warsaw 1897; and others.[citation needed]
His father, Rabbi Shlomo Sofer Finkelstein, from whom he studied, was a respected rabbi in Warsaw.
His work "Elef HaMagen" serves as a source for practical halacha regarding the customs of the Yamim Noraim (Days of Awe) and is cited in many halachic works.
