Nikolaos "Nikos" Loizos (born 21 September 1990) is a Greek professional handball goalkeeper who plays for the Greece men's national handball team.
Education
[edit]Loizos holds a Bachelor's degree in Sports Science and a Master's degree in Health and Quality of Life.
Club career
[edit]Loizos began his senior career in the Greek Handball Premier with A.O.D. Thermaikos during the 2009–10 season, followed by a season at Filippos Veroia. After playing two seasons for YMCA Thessaloniki, he transferred to Diomidis Argos in 2013, where he won the Greek National Championship in 2014.
In 2016, he signed with P.A.O.K., winning the Greek Cup in 2017 and earning the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. He moved to Luxembourg side Handball Kaerjeng for the 2017–18 season, securing the Luxembourgish National Championship title.
He returned to P.A.O.K. from 2018 to 2020 before signing with Italian Serie A club Pallamano Pressano in 2020. During his four seasons in Italy, he won the Coppa Italia MVP award twice, in 2021 and 2023. Over his career, he has appeared in 30 official European club tournament matches across the EHF Challenge Cup and EHF Cup.
International career
[edit]Loizos debuted for the Greece men's national handball team in 2009. He has made 45 official appearances for the national team.
