Kari Bloom is an American attorney and elected official serving as Administrative Judge for the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas - Juvenile Division. Bloom was elected in 2020, and began her term as Judge on February 14, 2021. On January 1, 2023, Judge Bloom assumed the role as Administrative Judge, which involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Juvenile Court.[1]
Education & Early Career
[edit]Kari Bloom attended Bowling Green State University, and graduated with her B.S. in Political Science. Bloom then went on to attend University of Cincinnati College of Law, graduating with her Juris Doctorate.
Following law school and passing the bar exam, Bloom entered a career of public service. She began her career as a contract negotiator for the United States Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. That was followed by her service in the Office of the Ohio Public Defender. In the office, she served as a legislative liaison and parole attorney and testified in the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate on behalf of juvenile justice issues. She also investigated, prepared, and represented citizens in front of the Ohio Parole Board.[2] Prior to her election, Judge Bloom was an attorney in the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office.[3]
Judge for Court of Common Pleas (Juvenile Division)
[edit]The Juvenile Division for the Court of Common Pleas in Hamilton County, Ohio is located at 800 Broadway Avenue, Cincinnati OH 45202 at the Cincinnati Times-Star Building. The Juvenile Court decide cases with children as the subject of legal complaints pertaining to: Delinquency (criminal); Dependency; Custody; and Child Support cases.[4]
Writing as Administrative Judge on behalf of the Juvenile Court 2025 Impact Report, Judge Bloom had this to say:
"In 2025, nearly 23,000 visitors came through the doors of 800 Broadway for a variety of reasons. Some came in once for a quick transaction in our Clerk’s Office. Others were forced to make several visits to our courtrooms for heart wrenching and life changing reasons. Hamilton County Juvenile Court (HCJC) is not typically a place people choose or want to come. But after three full years as administrative judge, it is my hope that we have succeeded in helping make a visit to the Court a little more friendly, efficient, and easier to maneuver and understand."

General
[edit]Despite their non-partisan status on the ballot, Kari Bloom received the Hamilton County Democratic Party endorsement, and went on to face the endorsed Republican candidate and incumbent - John Williams.[6] The Hamilton County Democratic Party made a concerted effort for the 2020 General Election to elect endorsed Democrats to the judicial bench, and were successful in winning 9 of the 13 judicial seats up for re-election that year.[7]

2026 Election
[edit]Bloom declared her intention to run for re-election, and was unopposed in the May 2026 Democratic primary.[9]
Personal Life
[edit]Bloom is an avid runner having run in multiple marathons, including the Chicago Marathon and New York City Marathon.[10]
