KOORELOO is a Greek handbag brand founded in Athens in 2015 by Lila Karagianni and Alexis Krasanakis. The brand produces handcrafted bags using traditional Greek textile techniques and distributes across more than 25 countries.

Name

The name derives from the Greek word κουρελού (kourelou), a type of traditional handwoven rag rug made from recycled fabric strips. The founders altered the spelling for branding purposes.

History

KOORELOO was founded in Athens in 2015. Its first international stockist was Barneys New York. The brand subsequently stocked at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Shopbop, and Le Bon Marché in Paris. By 2024 the brand distributed across more than 25 countries through over 260 points of sale.[1]

Lila Karagianni is the Creative Director. Alexis Krasanakis, who previously spent 17 years as an executive at EFG Eurobank, serves as CEO.
