Josef (Jay) Doctora was born on 24th May, 1997 in Cebu, Philippines to his parents who were business people and accountants. Jay moved to New Zealand at the age of 3 and attended high school at Liston College in Henderson, Auckland and graduated with a Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance from Auckland University of Technology. He currently lives in New Zealand. Jay is an international cricketer for the Philippines Cricket Team (Carabaos) who is a top order batting all-rounder (off spin).[1]
Cricket Career
[edit]Jay was named in the Carabaos Squad for the 32nd South East Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia which took place in May 2023.[2] He made his debut for the Carabaos on 3rd May 2023 against Singapore. Taking 1 wicket in his 2 overs and scoring 4 runs.
Jay was been selected for the 15-man squad to represent the Carabaos in the East Asia Pacific T20 World Cup Qualifiers which took place at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea in July 2023.
In December 2025, Jay was selected in the Carabaos team for the 33rd SEA Games in Bangkok, Thailand. The team finished the tournament with a silver in the T20 and T10 formats[3]. The highest finish for the Carabaos in any SEA Games.

Awards & Recognition
[edit]In June 2025, Jay was awarded the Fil-Kiwi Sports Person of the year award. Recognised for representing Philippines Cricket Team (Carabaos) within the Filipino community in New Zealand.[4][5][6]
