Jaedon Aso

Jaedon Aso is an American track and field sprinter who competes in the 60 metres, 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres. He competed collegiately for the St. Mary's College of Maryland[1] Seahawks in NCAA Division III track and field before continuing his career as an unattached athlete.

Early career

Aso began competing in organized running at Spring Ridge Middle School, where he initially competed in cross country. He later transitioned toward sprinting while attending Great Mills High School in Maryland, competing in short-distance events including the 100 metres and 200 metres.

In 2022, Aso competed in the Potomac Valley Association Junior Olympic Championships before advancing to the USATF Region 3 Junior Olympic Championships. At the Region 3 championships, he competed in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 4 × 100 metres relay. Aso was a member of the St. Mary's Striders[2] relay team that won the 17–18 men's 4 × 100 metres relay.[3]

Aso continued competing in sprint events before beginning his collegiate career at St. Mary's College of Maryland.

College career

Aso competed collegiately for the St. Mary's College of Maryland Seahawks[4] in NCAA Division III track and field beginning with the 2022–23 season. He competed across indoor and outdoor seasons in the 60 metres, 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres.

During his collegiate career, Aso competed in invitational meets, conference championships, and regional championship competitions while representing St. Mary's.

2022–23 season

Aso began his collegiate career as a freshman during the 2022–23 season. During the indoor season, he recorded personal bests of 7.73 seconds in the 60 metres, 25.51 seconds in the 200 metres, and 1:00.29 in the 400 metres.

His 7.73-second performance in the 60 metres came at the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Championships[5] in February 2023.

During the outdoor season, Aso competed in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres. He recorded an outdoor 200-metre personal best of 24.47 seconds. He also competed on St. Mary's relay teams, including the 4x200 metres and 4x100 metres.

2023–24 season

During his sophomore season, Aso continued competing across multiple sprint events. His indoor performances included 7.73 seconds in the 60 metres, 24.53 seconds in the 200 metres, 1:00.82 in the 400 metres, and 1:23.20 in the 500 metres.

During the outdoor season, he improved his performances in the 100 and 400 metres, recording 12.06 seconds in the 100 metres and 57.27 seconds in the 400 metres. He also recorded a 200-metre time in the 24-second range.

At the United East/AMCC Outdoor Track and Field Championships[6], Aso competed as part of St. Mary's 4x100-meter relay team, which finished third in 43.81 seconds.

Aso also competed at the 2024 AARTFC Outdoor Championships[7], his first appearance at the regional championship meet. He competed in the 4x100-metre relay, which finished in 44.46 seconds.

2024–25 season

Aso's junior season marked a significant improvement in his sprint performances. During the 2025 indoor season, he established a personal best of 7.54 seconds in the 60 metres and recorded 24.80 seconds in the 200 metres and 58.47 seconds in the 400

His 7.54-second performance in the 60 metres came at the 2025 United East Indoor Track and Field Championships[8], where he finished sixth in the event.

During the 2025 outdoor season, Aso recorded personal bests of 11.66 seconds in the 100 metres, 23.89 seconds in the 200 metres, and 55.58 seconds in the 400 metres. His 11.66 second 100 meter performance was recorded at the Hopkins Loyola Invitational on April 19, 2025. His 23.89-second 200 metres and 55.58-second 400 metres were recorded at the St. Mary's College of Maryland Seahawk Invitational on March 29.

At the 2025 United East Outdoor Track and Field Championships[9], Aso competed in the 100 metres and 200 metres and was a member of St. Mary's 4x100-metre relay team, which finished second in the final with a time of 43.61 seconds.

Aso was named Second Team All-United East[10] as a member of the 4x100 meter relay.

2025–26 season

During the 2025–26 season, Aso recorded his largest improvement in the indoor 60 metres. He lowered his personal best from 7.54 seconds to 7.29 seconds during the 2026 indoor season.

During the 2026 outdoor season, he competed in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres. At George Mason University, he recorded a personal best of 11.28 seconds in the 100 metres and competed in the 200 metres. He also competed in the 400 metres at St. Mary's College of Maryland. During this he also achieved a World athletics[11] profile

Aso concluded his collegiate career following the 2026 outdoor season.

Post-collegiate career

Following the conclusion of his collegiate career, Aso continued competing as an unattached athlete.

He competed at the Virginia Commonwealth Games[12], entering the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres. His participation marked his continuation of competitive track and field following his NCAA career.

Aso continues to train and compete independently, primarily focusing on the 60 metres, 100 metres, and 200 metres.

He holds two St. Mary's College of Maryland school records and has 12 performances ranked among the top 10 in program history[14] across individual and relay events.

His collegiate career included continued improvement across multiple sprint distances, with his indoor 60-metre personal best improving from 7.73 seconds in 2023 to 7.54 seconds in 2025 and finally to 7.29 seconds in 2026. His outdoor sprint performances also improved during his collegiate career, including a progression to 11.28 seconds in the 100 metres and 23.31 seconds in the 200 metres.
