Brothers Union

Akando played as a goalkeeper for Brothers Union in the Bangladesh Football League.

During the 2025–26 season, he established himself as a regular goalkeeper for the club. In March 2026, bdnews24.com reported that he had appeared in nine league matches for Brothers Union.[1]

In January 2026, Akando received attention for his performance against Mohammedan SC. The Daily Star reported that he made a number of saves as Brothers Union held Mohammedan in their final match of the first phase of the league.[2]

He also featured for Brothers Union against Bashundhara Kings. In a domestic cup match, Prothom Alo reported that Akando stopped a Bashundhara Kings attack during the first half.[3]

Senior national team call-up

[edit]

In March 2026, Bangladesh head coach Javier Cabrera called Akando into the senior national team's preliminary training squad ahead of matches against Vietnam and Singapore.[4]

Akando was the only new player in the 28-member preliminary squad. At the time of his call-up, he was 23 years old and was playing regularly for Brothers Union.[1][5]

His inclusion attracted attention because the squad already contained goalkeepers Mitul Marma, Mehedi Hasan Srabon and Sujan Hossain.[6]

Cabrera explained Akando's selection by saying that the coaching staff wanted to provide opportunities to young goalkeepers and considered Akando suitable for the team's style of play.[7]

Bangla Tribune subsequently published a feature on Akando following his first senior national-team call-up, in which he discussed the prospect of training alongside members of the Bangladesh squad.[6]

In May 2026, Akando was also named in a 32-member preliminary Bangladesh Olympic football team squad for the Diamond Jubilee Football Tournament in the Maldives.[8]
