Hot in Juba is an online news outlet in South Sudan and based in the Capital, Juba. It was established in 2015.[1]
Suspension
[edit]In October 2025, the Media Authority of South Sudan shut down the operations of Hot in Juba because it published defamatory news reports. The regulator asked the website to delete the controversial material and put a stop to the site’s operations. The ban has been criticized by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) for calling upon the government of South Sudan to rescind this action and permit the operation of the website without any restrictions.[2]
In 2021, Hot in Juba, an ethical reporting strategy aimed at combating hate speech and partisan reporting. This move was to strengthen professionalism and remove emotional reporting.[3]
