Hoganhost is a Nigerian domain name registrar and web hosting service company headquartered in Calabar, Cross River State. [1]
In 2025, Hoganhost won Web Hosting Company of the Year at the Titans of Tech awards[2]and in 2026, it was listed among the world’s Top 25 WordPress Hosting Providers.[3][4] As of 2025, Hoganhost managed about 30,000 domains and hosted 10,000 websites.[5][6]
Services
[edit]The company provides domain registration, transfers, and renewals. It also provides web hosting services, including shared hosting, VPS hosting, cloud hosting, and dedicated servers. [7]
History
[edit]HoganHost was founded in September 2019 by Joseph Effiok Hogan alongside his sister and co-founder, Atim Hogan.[8]
In 2024, they introduced subsidised domain registration and web hosting offers aimed at empowering small businesses in Nigeria to establish their online presence.[9]
In September 2025, HoganHost entered into a partnership with global cloud provider DigitalOcean to roll out instant cloud hosting services across Africa beginning in January 2026.[10][11]
In October 2025, HoganHost launched a new FreeDNS service to users.[12]
In December 2025, HoganHost launched a Public Domain Marketplace that allows anyone to buy and sell domain names. The feature is designed for users to list both active and expired domains for sale and make these listings visible to the general public. According to ThisDay Newspaper, HoganHost is the first Nigerian web hosting company to launch a domain marketplace for everyone, not just registered users.[13]
HoganHost started with an accreditation from the Nigeria Internet Registration Association , providing Nigerian top-level domains. In 2025, they gained accreditation in South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda; these accreditations allow them to offer country-code top-level domains in these countries.[14][15][16][17]
In 2026, they reportedly secured new accreditations for nine globally recognized country-code top-level domains, which are; .ME, .AI, .PR, .VC, .AG, .LC, .BZ, .SC, and .MU [18][19]
Subsidiary
[edit]In April 2026, Hoganhost acquired a Nigerian web hosting company, Zuumhost, and listed it as a subsidiary of Hoganhost. The CEO, Joseph Hogan, stated the acquisition is in line with plans to accelerate its pan-African ambitions.[20][21][22]
Proposed acquisition
[edit]In 2025, HostAfrica expressed interest in acquiring HoganHost. Joseph Effiok Hogan, the company’s CEO, declined the offer, stating that HoganHost would remain independent.[23][24]
