Funmi Funmilayo Braithwaite[1], (Born 19 May 1969) is a Nigerian author, publicist, and global health advocate whose work focuses on literature, public health awareness, and social advocacy. She is the author of more than ten books covering fiction, health education, and social advocacy.
Early life and Education
[edit]Funmilayo Braithwaite (née Adegbite) was born on 19 May 1969 in Zaria, located in Kaduna State, northern Nigeria. She graduated from the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), A tertiary institution located in Niger State, Nigeria.[2]
Career
[edit]Funmilayo Braithwaite has had a professional career spanning more than 30 years in corporate banking, international journalism, public relations, and medical advocacy.[2]
Corporate banking and finance
[edit]Braithwaite spent more than 29 years working in the corporate banking and financial sector. During her career, she held senior positions, including branch manager and business development manager, at several commercial institutions.
A significant part of Braithwaite's banking career was spent at Ecobank Nigeria Plc. During her time at the bank, she worked in corporate operations, financial portfolio management, and client relations before leaving the banking sector.
Journalism and media leadership
[edit]Alongside her career in corporate banking, Braithwaite worked in international media. She served as executive director of Echoes Africa, a magazine based in the United States.
