Fraser John Bryden (born 1 June 2004) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a forward for EFL League Two club Chesterfield.[4]

Club career

Youth career

Born in Dailly,[3] Bryden began his career at Carrick BC at youth level, before signing for Ayr United; where he signed his first professional contract on 14 January 2022.[5]

Ayr United

Prior to signing his professional deal, Bryden made his senior league debut for Ayr as he came on as a 77th minute substitue for Michael Moffat during a 1–0 home win against Arbroath.[6] In February 2024, after going onto become a regular for the first team with the Honest Men; Bryden signed a new deal with the club that runs until the summer of 2026.[7]

On 5 July 2025, Bryden left Ayr United by mutual consent,[8] he made 72 appearances across all competitions for Ayr, scoring 9 times during his stay at Somerset Park.[4]

Queen of the South (loan)

On 23 August 2024, Bryden signed for Scottish League One club Queen of the South on a season–long loan.[9] He went onto make 20 appearances across all competitions for The Doonhamers, finding the back of the net twice as Queen of the South finished 3rd in the table; then coming up short against Cove Rangers in the the play–offs.[4][10][11]

Crusaders

On 15 July 2025, Bryden signed for NIFL Premiership side Crusaders on a two-year deal.[12] During his only season in north Belfast; Bryden scored 24 goals in 40 appearances,[13] and was voted Crusaders' Young Player of the Year.[14]

Chesterfield

On 27 July 2026, Bryden signed for League Two side Chesterfield for a fee of £120,000, with the Scotsmen penning a three–year deal.[15][16] He made his debut for Chesterfield on 8 August 2026, coming on as a 70th minute substitute for Lee Bonis during a 1–0 defeat against Fleetwood Town in Round One of the EFL Cup.[17][18] Bryden made his professional debut in the EFL a week later against the same opposition, as he came on for Lee Bonis in the 69th minute during the 1–0 defeat against Fleetwood Town in League Two.[19]

On 15 September 2026, he scored his first goal for The Spireites - in the 23rd minute during Chesterfield's 5–3 win at home against Manchester City U21 in the EFL Trophy.[20][21]
