Forma Pro Films is a Latvian film and television production and distribution company based in Riga, Latvia which also has operations in Malta. It has co-produced multiple productions including high-profile films such as Minotaur, The Good Neighbor and The Wizard of the Kremlin.[1][2] The registered owner of the company is Latvian citizen Viktoria Zaitsevo.[3]
Most of the films produced by Forma Pro Films are filmed in Lativa, with Latvia either the location itself, or doubling for other locations, such as Russia.[4]
History
[edit]Forma Pro Films was formed in 1999 by Russian citizens Igor Pronin and Julia Zaitseva. The first notable production by the company was 2009's Hallmark Hall of Fame film The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler. [5] The company moved into higher profile productions from 2020 on, with 2022's The Good Neighbor starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Luke Kleintank, and Warhunt starring Mickey Rourke.[6][7]
Awards, Plaudits, Criticism
[edit]Forma Pro Films has received several awards and nominations, Minotaur has been nominated by France as their official entry for Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards following its premiere at Cannes.[8] Journalist Graham Phillips has called The Good Neighbor one of his favourite films of recent times.[9] In 2025 the company produced The Chronology of Water, directorial debut of Kristen Stewart, which attracted critical acclaim. [10]
The company was involved in controversy when Latvia declined to fund the Putin biopic Wizard of the Kremlin, and the film was described as 'promoting Russian propaganda', accusations which the company has denied.[3]
