Eli Matana (born 1989) is an Israeli DJ, record producer and remixer.
He has worked in Israel's nightlife scene as a DJ and has produced official remixes for Israeli recording artists and television programmes. His work has also been covered by Israeli media and international electronic music publications.[1][2][3]
Early life
[edit]Matana was born and raised in Ramat Gan. According to published interviews, he became interested in DJing as a child and began performing at school events before taking on private bookings. During his teenage years, he also worked as a promoter while developing his career in the Tel Aviv nightlife scene.[4][1]
Career
[edit]Matana became active in Tel Aviv's nightlife scene, working as a resident DJ at several clubs while also organising events at the Comfort 13 club.[1]
He later became a regular performer at Funjoya, an Israeli festival in Eilat, and appeared at Tel Aviv's main "White Night" celebration in Rabin Square in 2015.[2][1]
Over the course of his career, he has performed as an opening act for international electronic music artists appearing in Israel, including Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Alok, NERVO, Don Diablo and Lost Frequencies.[4][1]
He has also performed at corporate events and public celebrations, including Tel Aviv's White Night festivities and events organised by technology companies.[4][2] In 2012, Matana received the DJ of the Year award at the XL Nightlife Awards. He received the award again in 2013.[1] Media coverage later reported that he performed at more than 150 events annually.[2]
Alongside his DJ work, Matana produced remixes for Israeli recording artists including Idan Raichel, Ivri Lider, Rotem Cohen, Ran Danker and Anna Zak.[1][5]
In 2020, Matana and Israeli producer Nadav Shpilman released a bass house remix of the Black Eyed Peas' 2005 single "My Humps". The remix received coverage from We Rave You, which also profiled Matana's career and his activity in Israel's electronic music and festival scene[3].
In 2021, Matana produced the official Big Brother Israel remix, the first official remix created for the programme's Israeli edition.[2][6]
In 2023, Matana collaborated with Agam Buhbut on the single "Boom", which he co-wrote and produced.[1][7]
mako also reported on the collaboration while covering Buhbut's upcoming EP, identifying Matana as one of the producers behind the project.[8]
In July 2026, Matana and ADIDOR released an Afro house remix of Dizzee Rascal and Armand van Helden's song "Bonkers". The remix received coverage from several international electronic music publications, including iEDM, Electric Mode, BeatFreak World and Plastic Magazine.[9][10][11][12]
