Edward Ferguson (born 15 March 1978) is the current British Ambassador to Serbia.[1][2] He has previously served as the Minister Counsellor Defence in Washington D.C.[3] and as the British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.[4]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Ferguson was an Exhibitioner and Choral Scholar of Trinity College, Oxford. He graduated in 2001 with a first-class honours degree in Classics.[5][6]
Career
[edit]Ferguson began his career in the Ministry of Defence, holding positions such as Private Secretary to the Secretary of State, Head of Afghanistan and Pakistan Policy and Head of Defence Strategy and Priorities.[7] In 2006, he served a 6-month voluntary operational tour with a British Battle Group, serving as a Political Advisor in the Maysaan Province in Iraq. [5][7] In 2014, he became the British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, serving for four years in Sarajevo. [7][8]After having been Minister Counsellor for Defence and Ministry of Defence Director in the United States[9], he entered the post of British Ambassador to Serbia in July 2023.[5][10]
Personal life
[edit]Edward has a wife, Caroline. Together they have three children,[6][9] the youngest of which was born in Sarajevo.[3]
