Dikkie Scipio (born in 1963 in Utrecht, the Netherlands) is a Dutch architect and academic. She is a founding partner of KAAN Architecten[1] and Professor of Architectural Design at the Münster University of Applied Sciences in Germany.[2] In 2023 she received the Prix des Femmes Architectes "Woman Architect of the Year - The International Prize" awarded by the French association ARVHA .[3][4]
Her best-known projects include the renovation and extension of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA) in Belgium,[5][6] and the underground extension of Museum Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn.[7][8]
Biography
[edit]Scipio studied applied arts and interior design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague[9] before training as an architect at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture, obtaining a master's degree in 1995. In the same year, she joined Claus en Kaan Architecten and became a partner in 2002. After the practice was restructured in 2014 she co-founded KAAN Architecten with Kees Kaan and Vincent Panhuysen.[10]
