Destin "Dez" Daniel Duron (born January 29, 1990) is an American musical theater singer best known for originating the role of Gil Brentley in Maybe Happy Ending on Broadway.

Early life and education

Duron was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, the fourth of six children of DeAnza and Denny Duron, the current the Head of School at Evangel Christian Academy. Duron attended Evangel Christian Academy, where he was the quarterback on his high school football team, and graduated as valedictorian.^[1]^[2]

Duron played quarterback on the junior varsity team for Yale University in 2009 and 2010.^[3]

Career

2012-2013: The Voice

Duron was a contestant on The Voice in season 2 and season 3. In season 3, he was on Christina Aguilera's team and made it to the Top 8 before being eliminated.^[4]

2024-present: Maybe Happy Ending and solo career

Since 2024, Duron has played the jazz singer Gil Brentley in the English-language Broadway production of Maybe Happy Ending at the Belasco Theatre.^[5]

In 2024, Duron released his first single, Let's Just Call It Love, co-written with Nathan Gamble and Brittney Meyer.^[6]
