CUBE Consultants

is an Egyptian architecture and engineering consultancy based in Cairo, Egypt. The firm was founded in 1990 by architect Ashraf Abdel Mohsen and operates across architectural design, urban planning, engineering consultancy, and regional development projects.[1]

History

[edit]

CUBE Consultants was established in Cairo in 1990 by Ashraf Abdel Mohsen, following his graduation from the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University. Initially operating from a small practice, the firm expanded its operations to encompass large-scale architectural design and urban development initiatives.[2]

Over its operating history, the firm has undertaken architectural, urban-planning, and infrastructure projects across Egypt—including Cairo, Luxor, and Sharm El Sheikh—as well as developments in the Gulf region and Egyptian diplomatic facilities abroad.[3]

Practice and scope

[edit]

CUBE Consultants provides services spanning architectural design, master planning, urban design, structural engineering, and development consultancy. According to its industry profile on Architizer, the practice engages in multiple project typologies, including cultural, civic, commercial, residential, educational, hospitality, transportation, and sports facilities.[4]

Urban planning projects

[edit]

Cairo 2050 and local development

[edit]

Beginning in 2005, CUBE Consultants was involved in developing urban revitalization proposals for Cairo and Giza. A proposal for the redevelopment of Remaya Square expanded into a broader strategic scheme for Giza, featuring a multi-modal boulevard connecting Dokki directly with the Giza Plateau. These spatial strategies were subsequently incorporated into the wider "Cairo 2050" strategic urban plan.[5]

Egypt 712

[edit]

The firm authored a strategic spatial concept known as Egypt 712, which proposed a decentralized network of urban centers and secondary capitals across Egypt. The planning framework aimed to redistribute economic, cultural, and administrative functions beyond the heavily populated Nile Valley.[6]

New Administrative Capital

[edit]

CUBE Consultants served as a founding member of the 5+ Urban Development Consortium (5+UDC), a joint venture of five Egyptian consultancy firms appointed to formulate master plans and design frameworks for Egypt's New Administrative Capital megaproject.[7]

In 2021, the firm's urban planning work on the New Administrative Capital was awarded Second Place in the Urban Design (Built) category at the Rethinking The Future Awards.[8]
