Crasman Oy is a Finnish digital commerce and growth consultancy company founded on January 10, 1996.[2] Headquartered in Helsinki, the company specializes in B2B and B2C e-commerce solutions, product information management (PIM), and digital strategy.
History
[edit]Crasman was registered on January 10, 1996,[2] during the early development of the commercial internet sector in Finland. The company's early operations focused on technical implementation, including the development of web services and electronic catalogs.
In 1998, the company began developing Crasmanager CMS, its first content management system, using the LAMP software stack.[3]
In 2003, Crasman launched Muistikuva.net, a mobile photo-sharing service that allowed users to upload images via MMS or email from mobile phones. The service was introduced during the early adoption of camera phones and multimedia messaging in Finland. It was featured as an interactive installation during the Night of the Arts (Taiteiden yö) festival in Helsinki in 2005 and 2006, where user-contributed photos were projected onto a screen at Lasipalatsi.[4]
The Crasmanager CMS platform was subsequently used in several Finnish web projects, including a 2003 corporate website redesign for the media company Alma Media[5] and a 2004 web service project for Electroline in Hong Kong.[6] It was also deployed for internet and intranet services for the Finnish Civil Aviation Administration (Ilmailulaitos)[7], the website renewal project for the Finnish Committee for UNICEF in 2006[8], and a 2007 international e-commerce network for the tire retail chain Vianor, covering 22 countries.[9]
In 2009, the Crasmanager 5.2 platform received a formal security certification from the cybersecurity consultancy firm Nixu Oy following a technical and operational process audit.[10]
The company expanded its operations through regional acquisitions and openings in the 2010s:
- In 2010, Crasman acquired Aisti Medialab and integrated its Bildy web-publishing tool into its service portfolio.[11]
- The company later introduced Crasman Stage, a Finnish content management system (CMS).[12]
- In 2017, the company expanded to Tampere and Oulu by acquiring the business operations of Suunnittelutoimisto Topic Oy.[13]
- In 2018, an office was established at the Joensuu Science Park (Joensuun Tiedepuisto) to serve Eastern Finland.[14]
According to a 2019 market review by North Patrol, Crasman Stage accounted for 1.76 percent of the surveyed Finnish e-commerce platform market.[15]
Pasi Kervinen served as the company's CEO from 2000 to 2012 and again from 2015 to 2021. Hans Valldén held the position from 2013 to 2015. In 2022, Samuli Hokkanen was appointed CEO.[16] By 2024, the company reported a turnover of €8.6 million and employed 93 people.[1]
